Cooper is a purebred Black Lab who is a local owner surrender due to a change in family circumstances. This active senior is house trained and he is, of course, neutered. He is good with other dogs but does get overly excited when he sees a new friend so slower introductions are recommended. He seems to meet other dogs best when he is off leash. Cooper is 9 years old - He was born in November of 2009. Cooper should not go to a home where there are small children since he does become anxious around them. He has never been aggressive. Cooper recently had a vet visit at which time he weighed in at 85 lbs. which the doctor said was a healthy weight for him. The vet also said that his hips are fine and considering his age.. he is in great shape. Lucky Cooper appears to be aging well. He is very strong and does pull some on leash so he will require training in that department. He does love to go for walks. Cooper is current on his vaccinations and has a brand new Seresto collar for flea and tick prevention. This collar will serve as a flea and tick preventive for eight months. Cooper is a wonderful dog with a lot of love to give. He is available for adoption now and his suggested adoption donation is $250. If you would like to give Cooper the "happily-ever-after" kind of life that he deserves for his remaining years, please submit our online application. You will find the application on our website at www.OneLifeToLiveRescue.com. A rescue volunteer will contact you once you are approved. You can then set up a "meet and greet" once a home visit is conducted and approved. Thank you for considering a very happy, rescued Black Lab!!.

"Mags", short for "Maggie" was found and taken in by a good Samaritan in NC. She was limited on her time in this home and a rescue partner in NC was sending out desperate pleas to prevent her from going to a high kill shelter. Every effort was made to locate her rightful owner with no success. Mags was emaciated when she was found and there is no history on her. She has not had a lot of training but her current foster mom is working on manners. Mags is crate trained and working on potty training. She loves being outdoors and she knows when she is out to "potty" but she will still have accidents in the house if not supervised. We wouldn't be surprised to learn that she was an outside dog prior to being rescued. Despite her "lack of education"... Mags is one of the sweetest dogs you will find. She was recently tested with a young child and she did wonderful with this young boy... even playing with some toys with him. She would do well in a home with children and other dogs. Mags will need to be fed separately from other dogs for a while since she does tend to "guard" her food. Not with humans. Only with other dogs. She has a very good appetite. This is understandable due to her lack of nourishment while she was running loose. The vet estimated Mags to be around 2-3 years of age and she weighs about 50 lbs.Overall, Mags is a very pleasant, playful, easy going dog. She doesn't jump up on people when meeting them and she has never shown any signs of aggression while in her foster home. She will, however, chase a cat or small prey animal and she does exhibit some hunting dog traits. Mags has recently been spayed and brought up to date with her vaccinations. She has recently been tested for heart-worm disease and she was negative. The suggested adoption donation for Mags is $300 to help cover the ongoing rescue vet bills. Mags will be available for adoption, or foster, on Saturday Sept. 21st and we are taking applications for her now. If you would like to give Mags a permanent, or a foster, home when she arrives.... please submit our online application at www.OneLifeToLiveRescue.com. This is our beautiful Wyatt Puppy who was recently rescued from a high kill shelter after being brought in as a stray in pretty rough shape. Wyatt barely had any hair on his body when he first arrived at the shelter and was suffering from ringworm and also from demodex mange. Both have cleared up nicely and Wyatt is now healthy and totally ready for transport. He is more than ready to start his "happily-ever-after'. Wyatt is listed as a Lab mix. We believe that he could have some Boxer or some other Bully Breed in his mix. However, only a DNA test will tell for certain. We are told by Wyatt's current foster mom in SC that he is a very happy puppy. He gets along with everyone he meets and he loves playing with all dogs. He is crate trained and working hard on potty training. It is unknown as to how Wyatt would be with cats but he is young. He should be able to acclimate although safety first when introducing any new dog to any resident cats. Wyatt Puppy has already been neutered and micro-chipped. He recently tested negative for heart-worm disease and he is current with vaccinations. Wyatt will be available for adoption, or foster, on Sunday Sept. 15th and we are taking applications for him now. His suggested adoption donation is $325 to help cover the cost of ongoing vet bills. If you would like to give Wyatt a foster, or a permanent, home when he gets here please apply today at www.OneLifeToLiveRescue.com. Leo is an absolutely GORGEOUS, (and very well-behaved for his age) Boxer (or Boxer mix) boy who was recently rescued from a high kill shelter after being brought in as a stray. He could honestly pass for a purebred Boxer except for the fact that his tail is not docked Leo is what Boxer fans love about this breed! He is wiggly, good-natured, affectionate, and playful. Upon viewing his video I would have to add... don't try this at home on a very hot day...LOL. However, I think that she did a good job at demonstrating that Leo is a VERY tolerant dog. Leo doesn't meet a stranger. He eagerly greets every new human with a hug and a kiss. He is very good with other dogs, also. He meets and mingles with other dogs politely. This boy is the whole package. Leo ignores a sitting cat, but he may want to play with a moving cat, not aggressively, just curiously. However, due to his youthful playfulness and long legs, he (like all dogs) should be supervised around any resident cat until he could be trusted entirely.. Leo is so eager to walk with you that he takes his own leash in mouth and prances beside you! He would be a welcome addition to just about any home. Boxer experience would certainly be a plus. Leo behaved well the first time in his crate. At 18-24 months of age, Leo is just out of the puppy stage. He has enough pet experience to readily join a family for a lifetime of memories to make. Leo is already neutered and he is micro-chipped, too. He has recently tested negative for heart-worm disease and he is current with vaccinations. Leo's suggested adoption donation is $325 to help with the ongoing cost of our vet bills. If you would like to give Leo a permanent, or a foster, home when he arrives on transport on Sunday, Sept. 15th, please apply on our website at www.OneLifeToLiveRescue.com. Layla Puppy was recently rescued from a high kill shelter and she is now scheduled to arrive on transport to PA on Sunday, Sept. 15th. We are hoping to have an adopter, or a foster home, for Layla when she gets here. Layla is a social puppy who loves getting attention from people and is very good with other dogs. (As you can see in her video with some "friends"). Layla's breed make up is questionable but we are assuming maybe some Lab? Shepherd? Hound?. The truth of the matter is that only a DNA test will tell for sure. We DO KNOW that she is adorable and in need of a family of her very own. She is estimated to be about six months of age and she weighs approximately 25-30 lbs. We imagine that she will be a medium-to-large sized dog when fully grown. Layla Puppy is already spayed, micro-chipped and she is up-to-date with vaccinations, too. Layla's suggested adoption donation is $300 to help with the cost of ongoing vet bills. All of the MI-pups have found their "forever" homes and now mom is looking for a foster or forever home of her very own! Midnight and her puppies were turned into a high kill shelter after the neighbors complained about them roaming the neighborhood. We provided rescue for the entire family. This pretty lady is about 2 years old and weighs just 40 pounds. She is listed as a Lab mix but is on the small side for a Lab. Midnight is a bit on the shy side but is very friendly. She is good with people and also does very well with other dogs. It is unknown as to how she is with cats at this time. Caution should always be taken when introducing ANY new dog to cats in the home. Midnight is now spayed, micro-chipped and current with vaccines. She has recently been treated for heart-worm disease and is past her "limited activity) phase of her recovery. 8-29-19 - Hermione Pup arrived on transport and went directly to her foster home in PA. Foster mom reports that she fit in as though she lived there her entire life. This girl could transition easily into any new home. She loves getting attention from people and she gets along GREAT with all of the other dogs in her foster home.. All of the other dogs love her, too. Hermione is very smart and very sweet and someone out there is missing out on a great, young dog who just LOVES giving kisses!! 8-17-19 - Hermione Puppy is an adorable little girl who was headed for a kill shelter in NC if she did not find rescue. We decided to keep her out of the shelter and get her on a transport to PA. Hermione has lived with other dogs and with children and we are told that she was very well behaved with all. She is very sweet and LOVES people. Her former owners also claim that she is house-trained. We are unsure at this time as to how she would be with cats but caution is ALWAYS advised when introducing any new dog to cats. This puppy is about 7 months of age and she weighs about 42 lbs. Her breed make up is unclear. She is listed as a Boxer mix but we are fairly certain that she has some Hound in her mix and maybe some Australian Cattle Dog? Hermione is truly a mixed-breed dog! We are guessing that she will be a medium-to-large sized girl when she reaches maturity. Hermione Puppy has already been spayed and she is current with vaccinations. She recently tested negative for heart-worm disease. Her suggested adoption donation is $300 to help with the cost of the rescue's ongoing vet bills. Meet Noah!! This very handsome gentleman was recently rescued from the euthanasia list at a high kill shelter. Note: Noah was brought in as an owner surrender due to him getting out of the yard and the neighbors threatening to shoot him. Very sad indeed. But, very true. Handsome Noah is a very playful and loving boy. He walks well on the leash and will catch the eye of all the Black lab lovers out there! He is listed as 2-3 years of age and he weighs about 50 lbs. He may have some sort of Bully Breed in his mix but, as with most of our dogs, only a DNA test will tell for sure. Noah has met other dogs, male and female, and tested very well with all. He also had a great time giving kisses to one of the sending shelter volunteers....as you can see in his video. He was a very good boy when he was taken out for his doggie introductions and we are told that Noah is as friendly and loving a dog as you could ever hope to meet. Noah has already been neutered, micro-chipped and he is up-to-date with vaccinations. He has recently been treated for heart-worm disease and he is well past the "limited activity" period of his recovery phase. There's only one thing left that Noah's heart desires, and it's the one thing that some lucky family or person could give him. A "forever" home of his very own. Won't you be the one to make his dreams come true? Noah's suggested adoption donation is $300 to help cover the cost of the rescue's ongoing vet bills. 8-29-19 - Update from foster mom: Zoey has been a very good girl. She is TOTALLY house-trained. She whines a little bit in her crate but nothing major. I would not suggest very small dogs or very young children with this particular dog since she does put every bit of her 60+ lbs. in everything she does. Zoey does need some training, especially with walking on a leash. However she is very food and toy motivated so training shouldn't be a problem for someone who has some time to put into her. Overall, in my opinion, she is a GREAT dog who loves people and gets along well with other dogs. Zoey will make some person or family a very welcome addition to their home. 8-17-19 - Well, who is this pretty young lady you might ask? Why, she is one of our new additions to the OLTL family and her name is Zoey. She is scheduled to arrive on transport on Sunday, Aug. 25th and it would be wonderful if she had an adopter waiting for her when she gets here. Our rescue does allow a short term foster period to make sure that the dog is a good fit for your family and your style of living. This Foster-to-Adopt option only pertains when you are picking up your dog, or puppy, directly from transport. Please ask us about this option at the time you submit your application for Zoey..... or for any of our dogs for that matter. This stunning Lab blend was rescued from a high kill shelter after being surrendered by her owner due to the owner moving and not being able to bring sweet Zoey along. Zoey's former owner said that she is a Bulldog/Lab mix and so that is what we are listing her as. We suppose a DNA test would solve the mystery if her new person wanted to know for sure. Zoey is about two years of age and she weighs approximately 60 lbs. She is nothing short of being an absolute sweetheart. Zoey is a very loving and friendly girl who has tested very well with other dogs. We are not really sure as to how she would do with cats but caution is ALWAYS advised when introducing any new dog to cats. We do think that Zoey would fit in well with a family who would like to give to give her lots of love and attention. Zoey is already spayed, micro-chipped and current with vaccines. She has recently been treated for heart-worm disease and she is well past the "restricted activity" period of her recovery phase. If you would like to foster or adopt this very pretty girl, please submit the adoption application through our website OneLifeToLiveRescue.com! Please take a look at this GORGEOUS dog who will be in need of a permanent or a foster home SOON! Sweet as candy, that's this girl! Pretty CANDY! She found herself at a high kill shelter when her owner brought her in along with another dog and said he didn't want them any more. Sad for Candy and her friend, but now we can find her a loving forever home that will value her and care for her as she truly deserves. She was very thin when she first arrived, which gives us a hint at what her life had been like, but now she is a nice healthy weight and looks beautiful. Candy has met other dogs, both male and female, and has been friendly and social with all with slower introductions. She's a more mellow girl and nothing seems to ruffle her feathers.. except cats!. It has been determined that our sweet Candy would definitely do best in a home with NO CATS! Duke is a wonderful adult dog who was recently rescued from the euthanasia list at a high kill shelter. This "southern gent" is a mellow dog . It's been said that he is "as cool as a cucumber". He arrived at the sending shelter in South Carolina as a stray. Listed as a three-to-four year old Bully Breed mix (we are thinking Bulldog or Pittie /Lab mix, but no one can be sure?), he was rough looking and underweight. The caring shelter staff soon nurtured Duke back to a healthy weight and gave him lots of tender loving care. He is now at a healthy weight, we are guessing 55-60 lbs. Duke has already been neutered and he is up-to-date with vaccinations. He has recently been treated for heart-worm disease and is well on the road to recovery. This great guy walks nicely on the leash and has done well when meeting other friendly dogs, both male and female. ‘Mellow, happy, refined, and easygoing’ are just a few of the words that the shelter volunteers have used to describe this handsome guy. He stood calmly and enjoyed getting love with his tail wagging the whole time when he was taken out recently for some playtime. Duke is hoping that his forever home will include a nice soft bed, plenty of yummy treats and good food, and most importantly.......a family or person to call his very own. Duke’s needs are simple. Plenty of love and affection are at the top of his wish list. Dukes' suggested adoption donation is $300 to help cover the cost of ongoing vet bills. UPDATE 6-17-19 - Banjo was seen by a heart specialist today. He was diagnosed with Pulmonic Stenosis which means that he is going to need surgery to fix a valve in his heart that is not working properly. Without the surgery he will not live a normal happy life. So, we are in the process of setting up a Go Fund Me to assist with this very large vet bill and updates will soon be following. 5-13-19 -WE HAVE SOME ADORABLE PUPPIES AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION SOON! This guy is Banjo Puppy!! The B-litter was rescued from a high kill shelter and will be on their way to rescue soon! They will be available for adoption May 19th. Mom is tan hound mix (pictured) and dad is white purebred bulldog? (or, so we have been told). Banjo Puppy is approximately 12 weeks old and the most recent weight we received on him was 10.2 lbs. This was on May 9th. We are told that these puppies are quite calm and very sweet. Banjo Puppy does have a grade 5/6 heart murmur. We are going to have his assessed when he arrives on transport but he will need a "special" owner who can follow up on cardiologist appointments and meds. if and when needed. The puppies will all be spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and current with vaccines when they arrive. We are accepting applications for them now! Update from foster mom (4-24-19): When Doc was returned to rescue, we did not get back the same dog... the "happy-go-lucky" guy who never met a stranger. But, he is now an insecure guy who doesn't trust new people. We will never know the reason why but it is sad. After spending a few months in his current foster home, Doc has been making progress with his fears and anxiety. He has recently been updated on his vaccinations. Here is what his foster mom has to say: "Doc is looking for his forever home and his next best friend. Like any young man he prefers the ladies. After being returned to rescue in December it is recommended that he lives in a home without children. He is working on his confidence and has been nervous meeting new people. However, once you give him yummy treats and he gets to know you he will love you and be your shadow. He loves to go for walks at the park, but he prefers if human strangers keep their distance. He really loves all dogs and always wants to play with every dog he meets. Some of his other favorite things to do is play with squeaky toys, cuddle in bed on the weekends, go for rides, and snack on frozen peanut butter Kongs. He is working on his manners in his foster home and already knows how to sit, shake, lay down, spin, play fetch, and take a bow. He walks nicely on the leash unless he sees a squirrel. He loves to play with his 2 doggy foster sisters, but this was after supervised interactions for the first week. Doc really loves all dogs, but since there are no cats in his current foster home it is hard to tell how he would do living in a house with cats. He is about 75 lbs, but thinks he’s a lap dog." 9-27-19 - WHAT'S UP DOC?! We'll tell you what's up - DOC was rescued from a high kill shelter and now he needs a home! Doc is a free spirit and has not a care in the world. This tail wagging, hip-swiveling fellow is fun and engaging, self entertaining and is a hoot to be around. Inquisitive and always ready to go and do, Doc has never met a stranger and no matter where he is, he makes it a fun, happy place. A skilled leash walker, Doc is a medium energy fellow. Arriving at the shelter with his good hound/beagle friend, Chester (who was also rescued), Doc never lost a beat in making other friends at the shelter and can't wait to share his sweet, kissy personality with his new family. A home with no small children would probably be best for Doc. Older children would be fine. Doc will tell you that he's a guaranteed smile maker and knows how to get the pet job done. Doc is wonderful with other dogs and is good with cats, too. Doc is listed as a Hound mix and he is 2-3 years old. He is neutered, micro-chipped and current with vaccines. He has recently been treated for heart-worm disease and is well on the road to a full recovery. Doc currently weighs about 50 pounds. His suggested adoption donation is $300 to help cover the cost of vet bills. If you would like to adopt Doc, please submit the adoption application, which can be found on our website OneLifeToLiveRescue.com! A rescue volunteer will be in touch once your application has been reviewed and approved!! Thank you for considering a wonderful, rescued Hound mix!!
